A Day Without a Bag Pics

“A Day Without a Bag” was launched by Heal the Bay in 2007 where 88 LA County cities took part.

According to Heal the Bay, an average Californian uses 500 to 600 plastic bags each year.
A reusable bag that lasts an average of two years, can save 1,000 plastic bags.

A Day Without a Bag” is expanding throughout California and the USA. Surfrider are on the forefront of this expansion.
Surfrider Newport Beach handed out reusable bags outside Albertsons, on Balboa Ave, Newport Beach on “A Day Without a Bag”.

Pay it Forward
Albertsons chipped in with a “Pay it Forward for the Environment” Program. Albertsons gave away a free reusable bag to the first customer in each check-out lane. The customers receiving free bags were asked to “Pay it Forward” by purchasing a bag for the next customer for only 59 cents.

Well done to everyone and thanks to all who volunteered.
