Blogs and Bios - Starting Up

In this new Blogs and Bios section we will try to give you some insight into the personalities on the Surfrider Foundation- Newport Beach Chapter Steering Committee. We will also blog about ideas, campaigns, research, politics and anything else relevant to Surfrider Foundation and all of us in the chapter.

This week we will start out with a bio of our Vice Chairman - Dudley Tabakin
Dudley Tabakin
Dudley joined Surfrider after moving out to California from Cape Town, South Africa via Oxford, England. Convinced by a brief 2 year stint in Oxford that rivers don’t provide as good surf as the ocean and that temperatures below 50 are unacceptable living conditions, he moved out with his wife Melanie to Irvine in 2003.

Dudley is a Biomedical Engineer, who works in sports performance and motion analysis. He gets to break down those rodeo flips to their mechanical components. He is a weekend warrior surfer and loves most outdoor activities and of course doing what he can to protect our oceans waves and beaches.

Dudley joined the steering committee in 2010 as Vice Chairman. This year he will be organizing the 3rd Annual Rockwater Relay Race, to raise awareness about the Orange County watershed.
