A Trip to the North Pacific Garbage Patch

If you have not seen this movie yet by vbs.tv then it is worth watching. The VBS reporters take a cruise to the Northern Gyre in the Pacific Ocean, with Captain Moore. They spot and pick up tons of plastic including chunks of refuse that cannot biodegrade.
Warning: There is some swearing in this movie. If you may be offended, do not watch it. Surfrider Foundation Newport Beach does not condone the swearing in this movie.

Meet the Chair and Vice Chair

You have already met Dudley in a previous Blogs and Bios post.
Here is a pic of Dudley and Robert Salazar, the Surfrider Foundation Newport Beach Chapter Vice Chairman, with the Surfrider Foundation car.

Blogs and Bios - Starting Up

In this new Blogs and Bios section we will try to give you some insight into the personalities on the Surfrider Foundation- Newport Beach Chapter Steering Committee. We will also blog about ideas, campaigns, research, politics and anything else relevant to Surfrider Foundation and all of us in the chapter.

This week we will start out with a bio of our Vice Chairman - Dudley Tabakin
Dudley Tabakin
Dudley joined Surfrider after moving out to California from Cape Town, South Africa via Oxford, England. Convinced by a brief 2 year stint in Oxford that rivers don’t provide as good surf as the ocean and that temperatures below 50 are unacceptable living conditions, he moved out with his wife Melanie to Irvine in 2003.
