Only report significant problems to these agencies. Have the address, nature of spill or runoff, take pictures, and if you can, get a sample in a sterile container. Take photos and record the time and date. Estimate the size of the spill and/or damage. Wear eye protection and gloves. Do not go into a hole or pipe.

Animals

If you observe a marine mammal or sea bird on the beach DO NOT APPROACH the animal. Stay at least 50ft away. DO NOT ATTEMPT to push the animal back into the water or pour water on it. Not all beached animals need human assistance. It is normal that seals and sea lions beach themselves to rest, dry and warm before returning to the sea on their own. Mothers may leave their pups on the beach while they are off fishing. Sea lions can inflict a very serious injury and may have transmissible diseases. Interfering with a marine mammal is a violation of federal law.
